The Rails to Trails is all of ours to enjoy

This is the first of what is expected to be many comments and blogs on our excellent rails to trails multi-use paved path between Kimberley and Cranbrook.  A rail bed which carried ore and concentrate from Kimberley Sullivan Mine to the main rail line in Cranbrook and onto Trail BC, and supplies to Kimberley, was generously donated by Canadian Pacific Railway to the two cities who's joint efforts, along with financial and organizational support from the provincial and federal governments has made this phenomenal recreation facility a reality.

In the coming weeks and months, we'll be communicating on how you can become involved in the trail, through events, work parties to improve the trail and generally to make the trail a better recreational resource.  The philosophy is to be inclusive and make improvements that have the best general application for everyone who uses the trail.

Comments and photographs are welcome.  The smiles on those using the trail demonstrate what a great recreation resource this is and will continue to be to the entire area and for those visiting to enjoy our quality of natural beauty and lifestyle.  Enjoy, and we're looking forward to hearing from you,

John Mandryk on behalf of the Rails to Trails Committee
